I Need A Massage!

As a self-proclaimed girly girl, I LOVE anything that involves pampering.  Pedicures, manicures, getting my hair done, facials are just a few of my guilty pleasures.  At the top of that list are massages.  My sweetheart surprised me one year on my birthday with a full body massage at Massage Envy and it exceeded all of my expectations.  It was my first massage so I was a little apprehensive when I was told that I would have to take all of my clothes off (I'm not sure if I expected them to massage me with my clothes on or what!)

The whole experience was so relaxing to say the least and unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to have another massage since then.  In trying to juggle going back to school, flying back and forth between Florida and Georgia more times than I would have liked to and recovering from my car accident two weeks ago, I am sure I will make it back to the massage table real soon!

Besides it's calming benefits, massages are exceptional for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.  I just recently found this out after reading Natural Cures They Don't Want You To Know About by Mike Treadeau, in which he recommends getting a Swedish massage regularly to help detox your body and improve your health. All the more reason for me to go and pamper myself!

What was your first massage experience like?

  1. Ooohhh, Candice. I was giddy reading this because I'm a girly, girl, too and I absolutely LOVE getting massages! I go at least once a month, sometimes more because I'm a member at a spa similar to Massage Envy where I can get the absolute bestest massage in all of America for $29 bucks! On occasion I will treat myself to the shi-shi-foo-foo spots because I like the whole 'tea n' crumpets' experience, too. But more than that, I just want a GOOD massage. I'm also a self-professed spa-hop, too. So if I hear about a groovy spot to get a massage, I'm there! My 1st experience was a little different, too. But a girlfriend coached me & now I gladly hop on the table! Sorry, I could go on and on, but when you're feeling a little better, run, don't walk to get you a glorious massage. And then work it into your regular pampering routine. It gives you a new outlook on life! Speaking of, I have an appt. in the a.m. (Giggling).

  3. Well Candice I must tell you after doing PR consulting for a day spa for 2yrs, I am a massage junkie. I don't get them as often as I should but they are pure bliss! My first experience was at the day spa that I worked for as a PR consultant so I was actually prepared about the "no clothes"deal, but they performed a deep tissue massage and then let me sit in the steam room for 20 minutes, absolute BLISS!!!

  4. My first massage experience was similar to yours, I was totally caught off gaurd when they told me to strip LOL. I love getting massages, I have so many neck/back issues I usually get a deep tissue so it isn't as relaxing but definitely helps with the pain. More massages is definitely one of those things I wish I had more time to do.

  6. I envy you because you have massages for pure pleasure. Me, I get a massage once a week to relieve my arthritis. I've grown tired of taking pills everyday, so now I'm into this holistic alternative. Well, it is indeed a great alternative. All I need to do is lie down and enjoy the comforting touch of the masseuse. I can't wait for my massage session tomorrow!
