Itching...Hives...Some Relief PLEASE!

For the past week straight, I have been suffering from hives.  I am itching all over... day and night! The only thing that has given me some relief is taking two Benadryl pills at night.  I try not to take them during the day because they make me so groggy and I have so much to do!

When I first started breaking out, it did not surprise me because I have always been one of those unfortunate people who are extra sensitive and allergic any and everything. One time I became so nervous about an upcoming event I had to attend (a court hearing to be exact) and I broke out into hives all over my body! This was when I learned that even STRESS can make you break out. This time, however, is different from the others because it has been going on for a week straight. Needless to say, it has been the most miserable past few days ever! And for some strange reason, I break out worse at night.

I would like to go to the doctor but, I am uninsured right now and I am trying not to have to spend hundreds on a doctor's visit if I do not have to.  So, I've decided to eliminate certain foods from my diet because I still do not know what triggered this allergic reaction.  I've also been using unscented/mild soaps and  I have stopped eating ALL nuts (I'm allergic to pecans, walnuts and Brazil nuts already).

I found some natural remedies at ehow.com that I intend to incorporate tonight:

1. Take an oatmeal bath if the hives cover a large area of your body.

2. Take acidophilus to help reduce an allergic reaction. ( I just eat some yogurt)
3. Take 1,000 Mg of Vitamin C to help your immune system fight off the allergens.

4. Apply aloe vera gel to help soothe your skin.

Hopefully, I can get some relief soon. If not, I'm headed to my doctor's office.

If you are one of the unfortunate ones who has to deal with allergies and hives, what gives you relief?

  2. I put a few drops of Eucalyptus into my misting facial steamer and steam my entire face that usually opens and clears the sinuses and relieves the allergies!! I am asthmatic and allergic to everything so I avoid dairy except cream for coffee and red meat!!
