Henna or A Cut?
I have recently been toying with the idea of doing something different with my hair. I am about 10 months into my transition and I am getting pretty bored with it at this point. I am thinking about a cut of some sort or coloring my hair. Although it is quite tempting these days to cut my hair so that I don't have to deal with the nightmare of the two different textures on my head, I'm not that sure about chopping my hair off just yet. I may try a subtle color instead.
I've been hearing so much about using henna to condition your hair and add some color at the same time. Commercial hair dyes contain all kinds of toxins and harsh chemicals. Henna is an all-natural, plant-based dye that conditions your hair and is gentle and nontoxic. From what I've been hearing, henna gives your hair a brown-reddish color which is the color I'm going for.
Have you tried henna before?
If I get brave enough to try it I'll be sure to post pics!

I've been wanting to try henna as well. After reading 'The GOOD hair blog', my interest has increased. I naturally have reddish-brown hair so I'm curious to see what it does to my natural hair color.
ReplyDeleteI was suggest trying henna first just to see how it does in terms of strengthening your hair and then consider a cut. How much new growth do you have?
Hi Monique! I have about four to five inches of new growth right now. I will probably be trying the henna first. Do you know how it's applied?
ReplyDeleteMoptop Maven has a great video on it. http://moptopmaven.blogspot.com/2010/04/henna-gloss-tutorial.html
