Live In The Moment

Many of us spend most of our days planning and thinking of what might happen instead of living in the now. While planning and preparation has its advantages, it is easy to allow it to take our lives, paralyzing us from simply living. I always felt like I had to look at all of the things that could possibly happen before make a decision; thinking that it would help me to make the best decision. In reality, I was becoming more stressed out in conjuring up the various scenarios that could occur. My fear of failure and making a decision that may affect my life negatively in some way, completely controlled my thought process and decision-making ability.

I have learned to change my way of thinking because it was doing me more harm than good. It is impossible to plan perfectly or to predict what the future holds. I also realized that sometimes what we may consider failure or disappointment is really a blessing in disguise. If everything went according to plan all of the time, it would not build character or make us tap into the strength given to us by God.

Learning to live for today can be one of the greatest gifts we can give to ourselves. You will experience much more happiness and fulfillment when you refuse to allow fear of the unknown to keep you from loving, dreaming and living. Everything happens just as it should and the only thing you have control over is the type of person you choose to be, how you treat others and how to choose to deal with the hurdles thrown your way. Those 'what ifs' oftentimes, never come and you realize how much of your life you have missed out on.

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear but, of power, love and a sound mind." I Timothy 1:7
